042 The Sphinx's Riddle

The tale of Oedipus is a weird tale of attempted infanticide, patricide, and incestuous relationships with one's mother, but I wish to focus not on the aftermath of all this, no I want to look at the tale of how Oedipus slayed the sly sphinx with words alone. Though I suppose I should talk about all the murder and incest when they come up (*insert Phil Sebban Ha Ha right here*)

Win a trip to Thebes! All you need to do is answer this riddle!

041 Heracles Wreaks Laomedon's Shit

Now after a week after that amazing cliffhanger that I left you guys with, I shall finish the story of how Laomedon got in even more trouble with divine and  semi-divine beings. But first let me recap the story from last week: Zeus got pissed at Poseidon and Apollo, he ordered them to build the walls of Troy, the two took Aeacus (aka the Dude) as an assistant for their project, the three got the walls finished and almost immediately three dragons attacked. Two died, but one broke through the wall built by Aeacus, thus beginning the prophecy that a descendant of Aeacus will destroy the city of Troy. When the two gods asked for a reward after completing their tasks, the king of Troy, Laomedon, wisely flipped the bird at the gods and told them to leave. (Wait what?) And this is where we left off the last time, Apollo having founded Troy was not that upset with getting nothing, but Poseidon was pissed and he was going to make sure that Laomedon payed for his disrespect.

You mess with the Sea God, you get the Sea Monster!

040 Two Gods and a Dude build the Walls of Troy

As all of you should know by now, I am extremely fascinated with the story of Troy and anything involved with it.

Ahhh! Except for that abomination which raped Homer.

039 The Murderous Daughters Danaus

Continuing on this streak about the famous inmates of Tartarus I end it with the daughters of Danaus. Compared with the stories of Tantalus and Sisyphus, the Danaides are less famous, but their is still note worthy to comment about. It is a tale of every groom's nightmare, to be murdered by the one you had just married and it is also a tale of the grave consequences that happen to such wicked women.

Damn Danaus, you one active man.

038-Sisyphus Cheats Death and Rolls a Rock

You ever hear of the word Sisyphean? Well blame this mortal for creating another useless synonym for the word impossible. It seems I am on tear on the inmates of the infamous hellhole known to the Greeks as Tartarus, so I think I will continue this retrospective at all the famous sinners who tasted the pain of Hades punishment.
